Simple Tried and True At-Home Remedies for Acne
Acne can be a really annoying skin condition. It typically affects adolescents that are going through puberty and teenagers. However, adults have often found themselves trying to combat acne. Many people take trips to the dermatologist to remedy acne or even resort to over-the-counter drug store medications to relieve them of their pimples. However, there are several home remedies that you can employ if you are suffering from acne that can help you get noticeably clear skin and without having to spend a lot of money or subject your skin to harsh chemicals that can make your acne worse.
First, exercise and changing dietary habits are an excellent way to treat and cure acne because you are attacking the problem from the inside however, while this is a long term remedy that works overtime. In order to alleviate the symptoms, red, inflamed skin, pimple-like bumps, here are some things that have been known to treat acne.
Unrefined Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil
Coconut oil moisturizes and combats bacteria on the skin. Apply this oil rich in fatty acids to the skin any time but it’s most effective after a bath, when the pores are open.
Oatmeal Mask
Mix natural yogurt and oatmeal to a paste; apply to the skin for about 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Aloe Vera Leaves
Aloe Vera has long been used for its healing properties. Apply the salve from an aloe vera leaf to the affected areas.
Epsom Salt Baths
Measure two cups of Epsom salts and mix it into a warm bath. Then add a tablespoon of Vitamin C (absorbic acid) crystals to the bath. This will decrease the inflammation and redness and help older skin layers to shed.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Mix 50/50 ratio of ACV to filtered water (ACV is very potent, do not use alone on the skin) and apply to affected areas just after a shower. This helps restore the acid mantle on your skin.
